Engr. Maria Rosario Aynon Arciaga- Gonzales is currently the Director of the Center for Strategic Policy and Governance (CSPG) at the Palawan State University (PSU) and is a faculty member of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology. As the director of the CSPG, she has secured and led 16 local, national and international research projects. Her internationally-funded projects include partnership with the University of Queensland, University of Melbourne, James Cook University and the University of California Davis. She has also authored and published 6 refereed papers in national and international journals and presented 11 technical papers local, national and international. She participated in the training on solar energy in Plataforma Solar de Almeria, Almeria, Spain; and Energy and Environmental Impact in 21st Century in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Her areas of professional expertise include structural analysis and design, renewable energy, socio-economic monitoring, biophysical assessment, ecosystem valuation and classroom instruction. She has research experiences in assessing current and potential energy resources; community based coastal resource management; mining, tourism and; ecosystem valuation.
She obtained her M.S. in Environmental Management at the PSU and has been a recipient of a Dean's Merit Award. She earned her BS in Civil Engineering from St. Louis University, Baguio City in 1989. In 2014, she joined the Graduate School of the College of Sciences of Palawan State University.
